Charity information
University of Cape Town Trust
The University of Cape Town Trust supports projects at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa. UCT is considered, by independent measures, to be the premier research institution throughout Africa. It produces world class graduates who support South Africa’s growing economy, as well as having a significant impact on the training and cultural needs of Africa as a whole. Well designed access programmes and bursary provision for talented young people from historically disadvantaged backgrounds have opened UCT’s doors to all sectors of South African society.
Today, of the 10,000 students of colour at UCT, over 75% would not have been able to afford their fees and living costs without financial aid. The UCT Trust raises funds for bursary programmes to enable these talented young people from disadvantaged communities to gain a world class education at UCT, fulfil their dreams and make essential contributions to South Africa’s renaissance.
