Founded 2006

  • Mission statement

    Inspiring Creative Expression

Providing people who have a disability, with life enriching, inspirational multisensory creative arts workshops, facilitated by experienced arts & disability practitioners.

    InnerSense workshops enhance lives by:

•Offering people with severe disabilities the opportunity to participate and discover new talents in the arts.

•Improving confidence for people suffering with low self esteem or depression, helping them to become more involved in their community.

•Enabling people with communication difficulties to share what matters to them through song, dance, drama or visual arts.

•Developing creativity and imagination; valuable tools for solving problems and changing situations.

•Encouraging positive, responsible risk; an important part of growth and development.

•Allowing people to explore their values, meanings and dreams, raising expectations about what is possible and desirable.

Each week our studio is transformed into a different theatrical environment, filled with imaginative props and musical instruments designed to inspire the creative talents of people with PMLD. These stimulating environments; combined with opportunities for dance, drama, music and visual arts, can inspire people who rarely speak to sing, encourage people who rarely move to dance and enable people who feel trapped in their own world to explore imaginative new worlds, where communication becomes a possibility rather than a challenge.

  • Aims

    InnerSense aims to:

    • Make immersive, need appropriate, participatory arts workshops accessible to people with severe, profound & multiple learning disabilities and complex needs.
    • Promote the rights of learning disabled people to have equal access to the arts and offer opportunities for self-advocacy for even the most profoundly disabled participants.
