  • Mission statement

Stour Valley Arts (SVA) is an independent visual arts organisation, a company limited by guarantee with charitable status based in King’s Wood, Challock in the Stour Valley in Kent. King’s Wood is a working forest owned and managed by the Forestry Commission and situated in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. SVA aims to increase public awareness and enjoyment of contemporary art while encouraging greater understanding of the countryside. In partnership with the Forestry Commission, SVA provides opportunities for artists, students and community groups to respond to, experiment with, and interpret a forest landscape. The organisation’s purpose is to develop SVA as a model of best practice with regards to commissioning art in the landscape, and as an educational resource for all to experience and enjoy. SVA has completed a feasibility study into an eco-building on the site.
