British Liver Trust
British Liver Trust
The British Liver Trust is the only UK charity tackling the growing problem of liver disease through raising awareness of liver health, providing help to those affected and promoting medical research.
The British Liver Trust is pioneering liver health through raising public awareness of liver health, providing care to people living with liver conditions and promoting research into liver disease, its causes and treatments.
Awareness: Alongside our lobbying, campaigning and advocacy for those affected by liver disease, our Love Your Liver campaign provides preventative, lifestyle-related, health promotion messages, especially developed to give people easy steps to prevent liver damage.
Care: We offer many services including a free medical helpline and a strong network of support groups, and we produce acclaimed publications about liver disease for both patients and healthcare professionals. We have a website that provides comprehensive information about liver disease as well as including online support forums.
Research: We promote and sponsor research into the causes and treatment of liver disease. We also have our own programmes promoting early detection of those most likely to be affected and to improve primary care for those living with liver disease.
Demands for our services are rising, and there is an increasing need for an informed independent voice on liver disease as incidence in the UK continues to escalate.
British Liver Trust aims to:
- To give support to those affected by liver disease - through providing information, peer support, and through campaigning and lobbying on their behalf.
- Most liver disease is preventable: we aim to raise public awareness of people can look after their liver and prevent liver damage.
- To increase research into the causes and treatment of liver disease.
