Consett South Enterprise Association Ltd

We aim to help people improve their and their families lives, by providing a safe and welcoming learning environment also giving people the opportunity to come together sharing problems and successes.

Founded 2000

  • Mission statement

To improve education and training and increase employment and life opportunities for the residents of Consett and beyond. Consett South Enterprise Association Ltd (CSEA) was started in April 2000 by a group of local residents who wanted to improve the lives of people by offering them free internet access, help and advice on both finding employment and starting up their own businesses to get them off benefits and back into employment and courses that would be a great benefit to them.
Our wide range of courses have grown in popularity with both older and younger members of the community who either do not want to have the formality of sitting in a college type atmosphere or be in a school type environment but do want to be in a relaxed, friendly room where they can learn something new or build on skills already learned and develop at their own pace among people who are like minded and offer friendship and support to each other.
The social influence also cannot be ignored, with many people attending courses who otherwise would be stuck in their homes without access to computers/internet etc and spending hours alone continuing to decline. CSEA gives these people the opportunity to meet new people and build up their self-confidence, self-esteem and people skills.
We are a learndirect centre and Jobcentre plus intermediary centre, we are now able to offer many more courses to the community of this area and beyond helping alleviate the poverty which blights this area.
