Charity information

Sussex Horse Rescue Trust

Our aim is to provide a safe environment for animals which arrive at the Trust having suffered cruelty and/or neglect. Funds are extremely limited and income reduces annually - horses need HELP.

  • Mission statement

To prevent cruelty and relieve suffering of horses, ponies and donkeys. To provide management and maintenance of facilities for the care of rescued animals. To extend our work, including education and advice.

Established in 1960 we run a rescue programme and currently have over 200 horses, ponies and donkeys either resident at the Sanctuary or in rigorously inspected loan homes. We believe every horse, pony and donkey has the right to be part of a loving family where it will be cared for and loved to the end of its natural life. No animal is ever sold and if a loan home is no longer able to look after the animal, for whatever reason, it has to be returned to Sanctuary.
