Lyric Hammersmith

The Lyric Hammersmith is one of the UK's leading producing theatres based in the heart of West London. Over the course of our 120-year history we have created some of the UK's most adventurous and acclaimed theatrical work. We have a national reputation for our work with children and young people, and create pathways into the arts for young talent from all backgrounds which help to diversify our industry.

  • Mission statement

    The Lyric Hammersmith has a unique dual mission to present a varied, high-quality theatrical programme whilst using our space and resources to nurture the creativity of young people- particularly those from disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds.

    Our Key Aims include:
    - to strengthen the Lyric’s reputation as an iconic, welcoming public building and creative hub in the heart of Hammersmith for the local and London-wide community;
    - to produce and present world-class theatre for the enjoyment and stimulation of audiences of all ages and backgrounds at our home in Hammersmith
    - To nurture a new diverse generation of theatre artists, technicians and managers.
    - To work in partnership to engage young people from West London – including those from socially excluded and disadvantaged backgrounds - in high quality, affordable activities in a wide range of artforms to help develop their creative, social, personal and economic potential.
    - To work with a range of educational institutions - with a particular focus on Hammersmith & Fulham schools - to deliver a top quality creative education.
