The objects of the charity are the restoration, preservation, protection and improvement for the public benefit of the Windmill at Windmill Hill, Herstmonceux, near Hailsham.

  • Mission statement

    The Windmill Hill Windmill Trust exists to restore and maintain the windmill at Windmill Hill for public benefit. The authentic restoration of the mill was completed in 2006. An interpretation centre is situated in the roundhouse with display panels of the history, operation and restoration of the windmill.

    The mill is open to the public on the first and third Sunday of the month as well as Bank Holidays from Easter to October. It is open at any other time by appointment, and school groups are encouraged to visit. A film and educational packs for Key Stage II have been specially written.
