The Theatre Royal, designed and built in 1819, is the last working Regency playhouse and offers an unique insight into the theatre of the Georgian era. It also provides a full programme of music, comedy, drama and dance and tours its own productions. It's Mission Statement is 'To be a world class theatre delivering a world class offer from a world class building'.

Learning is at the core of its artistic policy and the theatre aims to engage with the widest possible cross section of the community through learning and in the variety of work produced. A full programme of Creative Learning projects and workshops, popular high quality entertainment and an unique historical resource identify the Theatre Royal whose Core Values are:
