Safety Net Keeping Children Safe

Safety Net works with communities to keep children, young people and families safe. We do this by providing family support projects, anti-bullying services, youth participation activities and training

Founded 1995

  • Mission statement

    Safety Net’s vision is to create communities across Brighton, Hove and Sussex that work together to keep children safe. We aim to ensure all children and young people are aware that they have the right to feel and be safe, and they can get help when they need it.
    We use an approach called Protective Behaviours (PBs) to underpin all our work. PBs is a safety and life skills programme which teaches individuals how to recognise when they are not feeling safe and provides the skills and practical tools to enable individuals to take action and get help when they need it.
    The approach is an equal opportunities approach based on 2 central themes;
    1) We all have the right to feel safe
    2) There is nothing so awful that we can't talk with someone about it
    The PB approach encourages everyone to develop their personal networks of support and to explore how they can access that support, along with building problem solving skills.
    It also recognises that life is about taking risks and trying new things, and that this is an important part of our development and a valuable life skill.
