PSS is a vibrant, innovative and dynamic organisation providing a wide range of community based social and health care services across North West England, central Scotland and North Wales.
In 1919, Liverpool Personal Service Society was established to address the pressing social needs affecting the city that followed the First World War. The challenges of a rapidly changing society have been met by a pioneering approach, which has set the pace for social policy makers since the 1920s. Ground-breaking innovations by PSS include Age Concern, Citizens’ Advice Bureau and forerunners of Legal Aid and Relate. Today, PSS is at the forefront of community care; our services are adopted throughout the country, and further afield, as good models of care provision. We are looking ahead to innovate solutions to overcome tomorrow’s problems.
