Charity information

Parc and Dare Band

Organisation that provides individuals to have free access to tuition and musical instruments and to participate in the art of music specifically through the medium of brass and percussion.

  • Mission statement

The Parc & Dare Band was formed in 1893 taking its name from the two collieries formerly located in Cwmparc, Rhondda Cynon Taf. Though the Parc & Dare collieries are no longer with us their name lives on thanks to the success of the Parc & Dare Band, which remains one of the most successful bands in Wales. The Band aims to educate the public in the musical arts and, in particular, the art of brass band playing, and to further the development of public appreciation and taste in this art by the presentation of concerts and similar activities.

The Parc and Dare Band has a thriving Junior Band consisting of over 30 young musicians which provides a high standard of brass tuition to children of all ages and abilities. The Parc and Dare Band also runs its own annual festival, the Welsh Arts Festival, which seeks to push the boundaries of how brass bands are perceived in the wider communities, and forms links with world class ensembles and musicians from both Wales and overseas.

  • Aims

Parc and Dare Band aims to:
