Charity information

Sandwell Adventure Play Association (SAPA)

Providing free play opportunities for children from mostly deprived areas of Sandwell.

  • Mission statement

Sandwell Adventure Play Association (SAPA) is a voluntary organisation and a registered charity providing out of school club care and neighbourhood playcentres on housing estates in the most needy areas of Sandwell in the West Midlands. Children attend our neighbourhood playcentres across Sandwell free of charge. A diverse range of backgrounds are catered for but the underlying common factor is the disadvantaged catchment areas in which we operate. Each child attending from ages 4 - 14 years has little or no opportunity to play or enjoy leisure time with their friends other than in our playcentres.

SAPA also provides after school clubs where staff collect and care for children after school for a small fee, thereby enabling parents and carers to improve their life chances by accessing training, education or employment. Although SAPA recieves a grant from the local authority, we constantly need to provide and replace the much used toys, games and play equipment which are not covered in our grant and are the 'tools of our trade', especailly the consumables, eg. Paper, card, paint, crayons etc.

  • Aims

Sandwell Adventure Play Association (SAPA) aims to:

    • to raise money so that children have a safe place to play now that local authority funding has been lost.
