ChildHope UK - children's charity

Established in 1989, ChildHope has built a reputation for developing effective projects that protect some of the world's most vulnerable children from abuse and support them to transform their future.

Founded 1989

  • Mission statement

Forced to live in some of the most difficult and dangerous circumstances, millions of children around the world face a life of unimaginable struggle. ChildHope believes it does not have to be this way. Our vision is a world in which all children enjoy a life free from injustice and abuse. Our mission is to secure social justice for young people in Africa, Asia and South America.

With projects in ten countries, we work with young people who live on the streets or in slums, are subjected to abuse, engaged in the worst forms of child labour or exploitation, or are put in prison. Many are orphaned or alone.

With 25 years experience, ChildHope focuses on creating long-term sustainable improvements to the lives of street and working children. In addition to providing for their basic every day welfare needs, our projects are designed to prevent children facing exploitation in the first place. We aim to tackle the root causes of poverty and injustice faced by children around the world.

We work through local partner organisations and are driven by a commitment to support them to develop as stronger and more effective organisations so that they can bring about long-lasting improvements to children's lives in their own countries - long after the ChildHope project has finished.

Our approach is cost-effective and efficient. In 2010, 88% of our income was directly supporting our projects to ensure children overseas can build a better future.
