CARA (Centre for Action on Rape and Abuse) is a confidential and non-judgemental support service for women, children and young people living in North, Mid or West Essex.

  • Mission statement

    CARA supports children, young people and adult women who have experienced sexual violence, either directly or indirectly. We do this by providing face-to-face or telephone counselling, one-to-one support, advocacy, emotional support and information. Our work with children and young people includes play therapy, work with non-abusing parents and work within schools.

    We also undertake training for other organisations on sexual violence, self harm and other related issues and campaign for a better undersanding and awareness of the issues surrounding sexual violence.

    • CARA believes that sexual violence is completely unacceptable. We support those who have been affected and raise awareness in the wider community of the consequences of sexual abuse, assault and rape.
