Groundwork's vision is to see a society of sustainable communities which are vibrant, healthy and safe, which respect the local and global environment and where individuals and enterprise prosper.
We’re passionate about changing places and changing lives and we won’t stop working until everywhere is vibrant and green, every community is strong and able to shape its own destiny and everyone can reach their potential.
Groundwork is a national federation of Trusts making sustainable development a reality in the UK’s most deprived neighbourhoods. Groundwork was established over three decades ago as a radical experiment to bring together communities, businesses and government in a joint effort to improve the quality of life and promote sustainable development in places that had become run-down and neglected.
Groundwork Leeds was established in 1986 and is now working in communities across Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees, delivering hundreds of projects each year.
Groundwork Leeds aims to:
- Improve people's prospects We provide innovative education, training and employment opportunities to increase people's skills, confidence, well-being and employability.
- Promote greener living & working We help people learn more about their environmental impact and act more responsibly to reduce the use of natural resources and improve their health
- Create better places We support people to work collectively to make their surroundings greener, safer and healthier and to get more involved in the way decisions are made about their area.
