THE COPPED HALL TRUST

The charity was set up to acquire and restore the ruin of Copped Hall, an 18th century mansion and historic gardens situated near Epping, Essex. The uses are educational, cultural and community.

Founded 1993

  • Mission statement

The aim is to restore the mansion and gardens according to strict restoration criteria. As Copped Hall is an important heritage site, the educational activities are geared to illuminating every aspect of the architecture, gardens, landscape and the history of the site. The objective is to involve the community in all aspects of this project, including the setting up of a meeting place for conservation organisations.
Copped Hall is a much loved place and the project is supported by a Friends organisation with over 1000 members. From these over 40 volunteers assist with the restoration. Throughout the year we have open days, guided tours, concerts, plays, meetings, etc. Copped Hall was saved by the community for the community.
