Northern Stage

Northern Stage, established in 1987, is the largest producing theatre company in the north east of England. In addition to our own work, we present some of the most exciting productions from national and international companies, at our home in Newcastle.

During our recent capital development the theatre was completely refurbished and is now almost double the size of the original building, with three new performance spaces. The new Northern Stage re-opened in August 2006, committed from the outset to widening the opportunities for audiences to engage with our work. The theatre is a welcoming building, inviting people in to explore and join in with a genuinely open programme of masterclasses, workshops and free family days. We fundraise so that we can offer these opportunities to as wide a range of people as possible, and especially to those who could not otherwise afford to take part. In our first year, more than 5000 people and 30 schools participated in these events and in our formal education projects.
