County Durham Community Foundation provides grants that make a genuine difference to the lives of local people. We manage charitable funds donated by local individuals, families, businesses and trusts, building up a source of long-term support for the community and acting as the vital link between donors and local needs, enabling people to achieve far more than they could by themselves.

    County Durham Community Foundation is an independent grant-making charity. Our purpose is to support community-based projects that make a real difference to the quality of life for local people who are disadvantaged. We act as a vehicle for individuals, families and companies who want to put something back into their local community.

    We support a wide variety of causes by giving grants to local people, groups and projects including supporting community regeneration, children and young people, education bursaries and learning, the arts, the environment, improving health and helping families in need.
