The Children's Literacy Charity

The Children's Literacy Charity provides one-to-one literacy tuition to disadvantaged and vulnerable children (including those with Special Educational Needs such as dyslexia) through our primary school partners in London, Manchester and Essex.

We support pupils who are up to 24 months behind the literacy levels expected for their age to catch up with their peers helping them access the opportunities available through the national curriculum and giving them the best chance of future success.

Founded 1992

  • Mission statement

The Children's Literacy Charity works in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas supporting children who are struggling to develop their literacy skills in-line with age related expectations.

Our dedicated literacy tutors provide one-to-one tuition and mentoring through our school and community based Literacy Labs, which help children recognise and unlock their true potential giving them a fair chance of future success.

In essence, we support the disadvantaged children accessing our interventions to disrupt the link between people growing up with poor literacy skills being stuck in a cycle of poverty and deprivation.

  • Aims

The Children's Literacy Charity aims to:

    • To help disadvantaged children close their literacy age gap of up to 2 years through our specialist, one-to-one literacy interventions so they can work towards achieving their true-potential.
