Eden Rivers Trust

The Eden Rivers Trust is a conservation charity that focuses on the River Eden and its catchment. Based in Penrith, it is now in its 10th anniversary year. The Trust was set up with two main objectives:
- To conserve, protect and improve the River Eden, its tributaries and the flora and fauna in and adjacent to them.
- To increase public awareness of the importance of the River Eden and its catchment through education.
These aims are met through our research, conservation and education projects. We use our research work, such as electrofishing surveys and aerial photography to identify areas that would benefit most from our conservation work. We carry out habitat enhancement projects such as fencing, tree planting and installing fish passes on man-made barriers.
Our Education work includes River Days, a Wetland Discovery Trail and Mobile Classroom all providing schools with a hands-on, outdoor environment to meet the national curriculum, whilst learning about the river and its wildlife.
Eden Rivers Trust also provides education resources for use by schools.
