East Grinstead Museum

"East Grinstead Museum tells the story of our historic market town in the High Weald. Through our collections, we are preserving our past for present and future generations. ”

East Grinstead Museum was founded in 1976 and is a charitable trust. The Museum is independent, being managed by a board of trustees, and is totally dependent on grants, sponsorship and donations for its income.

Since September 2006 the museum has been housed in a purpose built building for which funding was received from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The new building provides a modern and accessible environment for the collection, its management and public research. The permanent displays in the main gallery focus on the history of the town and its surrounding villages; using artefacts, memorabilia and images, both photographic and archive film. The main gallery also incorporates a flexible temporary exhibition space, a children's activity corner, a small shop and a research room.
The Museum is open from Wednesdays to Sundays and admission is free.
