  • Mission statement

Bury Metro Arts Association, operating as The Met, believes that the experience of enjoying and participating in live music and theatre contributes to personal and community wellbeing. The Met offers excellence in arts and cultural experiences to as wide an audience as possible, with the goal of making a vibrant and inspiring culture synonymous with Bury.

The Met Arts Centre incorporates 2 performance spaces, a café bar, a meeting room and a recording studio, attracting audiences of 30,000 annually, who enjoy a programme of theatre, music and comedy with development and learning at its core.

Over 10,000 individuals annually enjoy weekly workshops using creative learning as a means to develop professionally and personally. Current programmes focus on young people, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities and older people. There is unfulfilled demand for this work.

The 2020 vision and business plan has identified funding needs which if met can enable the organisation to extend its services to double our activity and engagement with both minority groups and the wider community to create a cohesive and engaged community through accessible creative and artistic interaction.
