Charity information

TimeBank is a national volunteering charity, started in 2000.

Founded 2000

  • Mission statement

We recruit and train volunteers to deliver mentoring projects to tackle complex social problems. In this way we support young people who are recovering from mental health issues or leaving care services, disengaged youngsters who need a bit of support to get into education or work, UK residents who can’t speak the language and carers who are feeling overwhelmed. We also work with businesses to engage their staff in volunteering. We believe that great volunteering can transform the lives of both volunteers and beneficiaries by building stronger, happier and more inclusive communities.

  • Aims

    TimeBank aims to:

    • Innovate to find new ways of encouraging people to volunteer. We develop innovative projects to tackle social issues and encourage organisations to develop employee volunteering schemes.
    • Influence volunteering policy and legislation to give a high profile to volunteering and to continue funding volunteering infrastructure.
    • Increase the impact and reach of our work. We do this by developing new projects to meet social need and work in partnership with other charities to increase the pool of active volunteers.
