Undedr 5's Project
Undedr 5's Project
The chairyty first started in 1993. It was just a creche running 3 sessions a week, it now run 10. Since 2003 we became Ofsted registered In 2011 we received outstanding setting.
The Under5's project is a Children Charity based in the most deprived ward of Greenwich and 2nd most deprived ward in Britain. Our mission is to improve children life chances in social communication, learning and health. We run a healthy eating programme that ensures all children have a healthy meal at least once a day we also run a breakfast club that not only our children access but children going onto primary schools can take some toast and toppings to eat on the way. All our children are referred by outside agencies, e. G. Health visitors, social workers. We liaise with outside agencies such as Portage and Speech and Language. Children can start at the project from 2 years with an afternoon place and then stay with us until they start reception class at school. We are a small unit 14 children in the morning and 10 children in the afternoon. We can make such a difference by giving these children a chance to be as good or better when they start school.
We offer that little bit more for the family unit with advice leaflets, free trips and a summer play scheme. We won the News of the world Children Champion School award in 2003 which reflects the good work we do within the community.
Undedr 5's Project aims to:
- To encourage parents/carers to become more involved with the running of the group through our Management and parent/carer committee.
- To improve learning, health and life chances for all the children aged 2-5 in the Greenwich area.
- To acheive impovement in Social communication skills of all children on entry to primary school.
