Health Books International

Our vision is a world where everyone has access to good quality healthcare.

Our mission is to improve health by providing healthcare and medical information designed for use in developing countries on a not-for-profit basis.

Founded 1965

  • Mission statement

We send health / medical books and information to people around the world to improve health in developing countries.

Our materials offer a lifeline valued by health workers striving in difficult conditions to improve people’s health – there may be unreliable access to electricity or the internet; diagnostic and treatment options may be limited.

We reach community health workers, nurses, traditional birth attendants and midwives, laboratory workers, nurses, and doctors from all medical and surgical specialities. We supply affordable resources from illustrated books to flannelgraphs, DVDs and online materials to accessories such as rehydration spoons and tape measures.

We build the capacity of health services in developing countries by building the capacity of workers and settings.

  • Aims

    Health Books International aims to:

    • To give health workers around the world free or low cost access to relevant and up-to-date books and educational material.
    • To develop new resources based on the feedback of health workers with little or no access to drugs or medical facilities.
    • To publish books and electronic resources to allow health workers to keep up-to-date with recent advancements, and to enable them to learn new essential skills.
