International Children's Trust

Working globally to make a real and lasting impact on vulnerable children, we ensure that street children and child workers have better access to education, healthcare and psychological support.

Founded 1967

  • Mission statement

The International Children’s Trust works with local partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America to make a real and lasting impact on vulnerable children. We work to rehabilitate street-involved children, child workers, those at risk in dangerous communities and those living with disabilities. While improving a child’s access to education and healthcare, we go beyond their physical requirements to focus on the child’s psychological needs. Our local partners are experience in child psychology, family and trauma therapy, and community self-help. We want to ensure that children can build a better life for themselves, their families and communities.

Our work ranges from providing street children in Mexico with shelter, counselling and help returning to their families, to preventing school dropout and increased enrolment of children in schools in northern Ghana. The diversity of our partners’ programmes highlights the diverse needs of street involved children, and yet our programming is not simply about the everyday needs of a child. It is aimed at addressing the root causes of their poverty and its long term impact.

We currently work with partners in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Mexico, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
