Worcester Christian Education Trust

The River School in Worcester is a Christian school that aims to 'develop character, faith and excellence' for children and young people from Nursery up to the age of 16. Classes are small, the community caring, challenging and visionary; the vision is to raise young citizens who will love God and their fellow-citizens in whatever walks of life are their particular calling. We do not select academically and have a full spectrum of comprehensive education, including both very bright students and a number with special needs. We do not exclusively take pupils from Christian homes and we have a flexible fee structure to enable pupils from all sectors of society to attend. It is run by a non-profit-making Christian charity and we are needing to build a purpose-built Science Laboratory and an Art Room to replace dilapidated outbuildings. We want to make them environmentally innovative and forward-looking: we want to utilise as much renewable energy as possible, using ground-source heat pumps, solar energy; furthermore with a view to energy efficient and conservation we are proposing insulation that exceeds building regulation standards; we are also planning to use a grey-water recycling plant. This project will cost in the region of £180,000 and we are looking for grants and donations to help us meet this target.
