Paintings in Hospitals

Paintings in Hospitals inspires better health and wellbeing for everyone through our museum-quality art collection and hands-on art activities.

Established in London in 1959, we now work across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We have developed a diverse art collection of over 4,000 artworks and, as well as four artwork loan schemes, we now deliver art engagement projects and creative activities.

    Paintings in Hospitals inspires better health and wellbeing for everyone. Through our museum-quality art collection and hands-on art activities, we create engaging, reassuring and compassionate public care spaces. We believe that nobody should be without art to inspire, uplift and empower them.

  • Aims

    Paintings in Hospitals aims to:

    • Make health and social care sites more stimulating, comforting and supportive spaces.
    • Help patients, visitors and staff to engage with art and artists for the benefit of their health and wellbeing.
    • Help health and social care providers introduce art into their environment, via our loan schemes and partnerships with national collections such as the Arts Council Collection and the V&A.
    • Advocate for all those who believe in the benefits of the arts to health and wellbeing.
