Institute of Welsh Affairs

The Institute of Welsh Affairs is a non-aligned, independent think-tank that aims to make Wales a better place in which to work and live. We exist to promote quality research and informed debate about the political, cultural, social, economic and environmental well-being of Wales.

The IWA is supported by its membership but we usually seek additional funding from charitable or commercial organisations depending on the nature of the project. Recent work includes a study of small school closure in rural Wales and a devolution assessment for the House of Commons Constitutional Affairs Select Committee. In the near future we will be holding conferences on Wales's climate change position, road transport links, and the south Wales Valleys.
