Merthyr Tydfil Institute for the Blind (MTIB)

MTIB's Mission Statement:

"To provide people with disabilities and health conditions with the opportunity for sustained employment. "

MTIB started as a sheltered workshop in 1923 for 14 blind miners producing a variety of basic products. Now, we over 250 people with all kinds of disabilities and health conditions all over South and Mid Wales.

The workshop at Pentrebach, Merthyr Tydfil directly employs over 40 people with a variety of disabilities and health conditions. We now have a wide product portfolio manufacturing seat and recliner chair frames for several large furniture manufacturers, along with manufacturing mops for cleaning, and buttons for upholstery. Other quality services include packaging, assembly, fulfilment. We are always seeking new opportunities whether it is within a different industry of business sector. We have state-of-the-art offices and an experienced workforce.
