Heeley City Farm

Heeley City Farm is a busy working Urban Farm delivering a wide range of community projects and wellbeing services for disadvantaged people in Sheffield. In addition to our animal care & farming of Rare Breeds, Farm Kitchen Café, Garden Centre and 27 local food-growing projects across the sub-region. We attract c. 100,000 visitors a year to our sites. Our main beneficiaries include Adults with Learning Disabilities, Young People with Additional Needs, Older Lonely & isolated local people etc

  • Mission statement

    Heeley City Farm’s unique environmental project in the heart of inner city Sheffield reaches people other organisations can’t or won’t. Young people, older volunteers and adults with learning disabilities work alongside each other to run a farm and visitor attraction that brings in many thousands of visitors from local people to far away tourists. This is sustainable development in action: bringing economic activity, environmental action and social objectives together in one project that has received international acclaim.

    Heeley City Farm aims to:

    • Addressing Disadvantage & Poverty by: Supporting young people to progress Tackling fuel poverty Addressing food insecurity Facilitating community development
    • Promoting environmental sustainability and community cohesion by: Promoting recycling & re-use of farm products (compost etc) Bringing people together for Community Events and Peer Support groups
    • Enable people to progress in their lives and overcome their personal barriers by: providing employability skills and personal development through volunteering & placements improving quality of life
    • Improving mental and physical health outcomes for people in deprived areas by increasing the scale & scope of social / green prescribing across Sheffield supporting people with dementia
