IntoUniversity provides local learning centres where disadvantaged young people are inspired to achieve. We offer an innovative programme that supports children to reach their full potential.
IntoUniversity aims to address underachievement and social exclusion among young people by offering an integrated programme of out-of-school study, mentoring, aspirational coaching, personal support and, in partnership with universities, specially-devised FOCUS weeks, days and weekends. IntoUniversity is an on-going and long-term service. At the heart of the programme is the belief that underachievement is best addressed in the context of a long-term pastoral engagement with young people where we can build their esteem and support their learning in order that they can reach their potential. We build relationships with young people at age 7 and continue that support through university access and beyond. IntoUniversity is a centre-based service offered free of charge at specialist facilities located in the communities where the client groups live.
The vision of IntoUniversity is to provide a network of high quality, local learning centres where young people are inspired to achieve. At each local centre, IntoUniversity offers an innovative programme that supports young people from deprived backgrounds to attain either a university place or another chosen aspiration.
IntoUniversity runs a growing network of education centres in London. We shall be opening our 8th London centre next academic year and are also pleased to be beginning our national expansion this autumn, enabling us to support more vulnerable children in England.
IntoUniversity aims to:
- We want to educate children and young people about the benefits of university and the variety of professions open to them. Our aim is for them to make informed, positive decisions about their futures.
- We aim to raise the aspirations of children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to reach their full potential.
- We want to boost the self-esteem and confidence of young people so they value their talents and feel empowered to make positive life choices.
- We want to improve the academic performance of our students so that they can achieve as highly as possible.
