Charity information

Stonewall is Britain’s leading lesbian, gay and bisexual equality charity. We fight every day to bring an end to homophobia - at home, at school and at work.

Founded 1989

  • Mission statement

For more than 20 years Stonewall has led the way in campaigning for equality for lesbian, gay and bisexual people in Britain. Today our fight to tackle homophobia is no less vital than when we started. Our main priorities today are pushing for equal marriage, tackling the epidemic of homophobic bullying in Britain’s schools and working to support lesbian, gay and bisexual people worldwide.
We’ve achieved a lot, but there’s still so much to do.
Your donation will go a long way towards achieving our vision of a Britain where one day every lesbian, gay and bisexual person will be afforded the fair treatment and respect he or she deserves – at home, at school and at work.

  • Aims

    Stonewall aims to:

    • Equality at school. Our Education for All campaign works with young people, teachers and the government to tackle homophobic bullying in schools.
    • Equality in health. Our Health Champions programme tackles homophobia within the health service, for both patients and staff.
    • Equality in law. We continue to lobby for marriage equality, for an end to the blood donation ban and we are working to tackle homophobia worldwide.
    • Equality at work. We work with over 600 major employers to ensure that equality for LGB people remains a high priority in all sectors.
