Vision Aid Overseas

Vision Aid Overseas fights poverty by transforming access to eye care in developing countries.

Founded 1985

  • Mission statement

640 million people in the world are disadvantaged or disabled because they don't have the spectacles they need to live an ordinary life. Vision Aid Overseas is a charity dedicated to helping people in developing countries whose lives are blighted by poor eyesight.

We believe strongly in creating a sustainable solution to the lack of eye care services. Utilising the expertise and experience of volunteer optometrists and dispensing opticians, we train optometrists in both clinical and management skills and establish Vision Centres where people can recieve the correct pair of spectacles at an affordable price.

Started in 1985, Vision Aid Overseas has worked in 27 countries and helped over 1 million patients to see.

  • Aims

    Vision Aid Overseas aims to:

    • Lower the rate of uncorrected refractive error and unnecessary eye health issues.
    • Improve access to and standards of eye care services in developing countries.
    • Create a sustainable solution by establishing Vision Centres and training optometrists
