EAST SUSSEX DISABILITY ASSOCIATION

East Sussex Disability Association (ESDA) is a registered charity and a member of both Assist UK and RADAR. Formed in 1938 ESDA has continually responded and adjusted to the changing circumstances and aspirations of disabled people. ESDA exists to help all disabled people in East Sussex achieve independence and control over their lives.

ESDA is the only independent, voluntary organisation with a mandate to represent the needs of all disabled people in East Sussex. Last year over 25,000 enquiries from disabled people were responded to and a range of practical help and support provided. ESDA is well-known and greatly respected in the County and is often the first port of call for disabled people in any sort of difficulty.

ESDA is committed to:

• Being led by Disabled People who form a majority of its voting members and Trustees
• Removing barriers in society that put Disabled People at a disadvantage
• Disabled People having the same rights and responsibilities as any member of society
• Promoting the interests of Disabled People and challenging policies and attitudes that discriminate against Disabled People
• Reflecting the diversity of views and circumstances of Disabled People
