London Early Years Foundation (LEYF)

We are the UK's leading childcare charity and social enterprise, building a better future for London's children through a commitment to excellence in Early Years education, training & research.

Founded 1903

  • Mission statement

With almost 300 staff across 21 community, workplace and Children’s Centre nurseries in four key London boroughs - three of which have been awarded Outstanding by Ofsted - we are proud to make a real difference to the lives of more than 1500 children every year, helping them develop a passion for learning, regardless of their background.

Through our dedicated Centre for Research, Learning and Development, we have supported the professional development of more than 300 students since 1997 and now offer a range of practical, distinctive and accredited CPD courses purposefully designed for Early Years practitioners, along with access to employment, youth mentoring and apprenticeship programmes for disadvantaged young adults and local parents.

We also enjoy developing intergenerational projects that knit both young and old together – where activities such as film-making, needlecraft and song help create stronger and more integrated, connected communities.
