GL11 Community Project

The aim of the GL11 Community proect is to provide activites in a warm friendly environment to support local residents in the advancement of education, training to relieve poverty and hardship.

The Gl11 Community project is a registred charity situated at Fairmead Cam Dursley, Gloucestershire. It lies in a semi rural location surrounded by social housing, serves the GL11 post code and surrounding Stroud District. It started because athe Local authority Family Centre closed in 2001 and local families needed services on their own doorstep they formed a committee and business plan.
There are 16,000 residents in GL11 post code. There are small pockets of deprivations , Cam lies 6th in the national indicies of deprivation. The project works with residents who suffer friom mental health circumstances, depression, lack of confidence and low self esteem. GL11 is unique in the area as there is no other provision which works with the wage range 0-99years locally.
We provide Courses, a Drop service in for Families and Over 50's and Skills for Life and opportunities for young people to meet and volunteer services for their community.
