We are the largest provider of childhood bereavement services in the UK and offer the widest range of practical support and guidance to children, families and professionals
The mission of Winston's Wish is to ensure the resilience of children confronted by the death of someone important to them by providing high quality services that meet their needs.
Bereaved children need to make sense of death and rebuild their lives. Winston's Wish provides professional therapeutic help in individual, group and residential settings, and via a national Helpline, interactive website and publications.
Winston's Wish is the only specialist provider of support for children bereaved through murder, manslaughter, suicide or military conflict.
The death of a parent or sibling is one of the most fundamental losses a child will ever face. If childhood grief is not dealt with appropriately it can have a lasting effect on a child's emotional well-being and lead to anger, depression, sleeping difficulties relationship problems and mental health issues.
Our range of services is developed and delivered in response to need, by highly qualified staff from a range of clinical backgrounds and experience, supported by specially trained and experienced volunteers.
Winston's Wish knows from experience that the right support offered at the right time can have a life-changing impact on bereaved children and young people. Our professionally qualified clinical practitioners help children and their families before, during and after bereavement so that they can understand the nature of their loss and live with their grief.
