Crossroads is a professional counselling service for people on low incomes who live, work or worship in Tower Hamlets. We also work in local primary schools, providing a child therapy service.
Crossroads uniquely offers long-term therapy to people on low incomes in Tower Hamlets. We work with individual adults, couples and children who have enduring emotional and mental health difficulties. We aim to help aid recovery from distress, pain or trauma; find ways in which people better manage their lives; help improve people's relationships; increase people's self-esteem; and give people a hope for their future.
The aim of therapy is to help clients face and understand the reasons for deep-rooted mental and emotional damage. Therapy helps a client to begin to change at the deepest level - altering the way they live and the choices they make; breaking free from abusive relationships and destructive patterns of behaviour.
Crossroads can be what makes the difference between someone choosing suicide, being hospitalised, experiencing irretrievable family breakdown, or suffering a mental or emotional breakdown and being able to find the help that they need. The difference for children is that they are given a chance to stay in education, to succeed, to break patterns of behaviour, to have a voice, and to play.
We provide professional therapy on a weekly, long-term basis, responding to the need for consistency, reliability and commitment - essential ingredients for trusting therapeutic relationships. Our Child Therapy Service takes place in schools so that children are supported by therapy within their familiar environment.
