The Whitechapel has premiered international artists such as Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Nan Goldin, and provided a showcase for Britain's most significant artists from Gilbert & George to Lucian Freud, Peter Doig to Mark Wallinger.
