The National Association for Children of Alcoholics

Nacoa founded in 1990 addresses the problems of children growing up in families where one or both parents suffer from alcohol dependency.

We offer:-

• A free national telephone, email, letter & message board helpline, providing information, understanding & support, empowering children to make informed, positive choices for themselves, irrespective of whether their parent(s) continues to drink.
• Information for parents, young people, teachers and professionals.
• Research & Media Events

    NACOA has four broad aims:

    • To offer information, advice and support to children of alcohol dependent parents

    • To reach professionals who deal with these children in their everyday work

    • To raise the profile of children of alcohol dependent parents in the public consciousness.

    • To promote research into the particular problems faced by those who grow up with parental alcohol dependency and into the prevention of alcoholism developing in this vulnerable group of children
