IMPACT Theatre Company
IMPACT Theatre Company
IMPACT stands for IMagine Perform And Create Together.
Set up for and by adults with learning disabilities, IMPACT seeks to promote positive images of disability and inclusion.
IMPACT is a registered Charity and its main aims are to promote a positive image of disability and to develop communication and self-confidence, though participation in performing and creative arts. IMPACT is different from many organisations in that we really do encourage our members, all people with learning disabilities, to take part in the many aspects of the successful running of the company and facilitate as much input from members as possible. The work of IMPACT explores 4 different area of expression: dance, drama, art and music. We hold weekly theatre and performing arts workshops from 4-7 on Wednesdays, run voluntarily. Members pay a nominal subscription each week. We also put on workshops and short performances in the community benefiting both the members of the company and a wide range of audiences. Our activities include short and long term projects such as ‘Breaking Barriers’ where people with learning disabilities are encouraged and supported to be proactive in their community; large scale productions where all the actors, dancers, singers and musicians are adults with learning disabilities; disability arts and inclusive arts events; arts activities in the community for those who may be unable to access them otherwise. We often work in partnership with IMPACT Outreach Network, a not-for-profit company which provides day services to people with learning disabilities in the West London area.
IMPACT Theatre Company aims to:
- TO PROMOTE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH LEARNING AND OTHER DISABILITIES
- TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF PEOPLE WITH LEARNING AND OTHER DISABILITIES, IN PARTICULAR IN THE CREATIVE AND PERFORMING ARTS.
