Fatima Women's Association

Fatima Women’s Association aims to meet the needs of the women from the surrounding areas of Glodwick, Alexandra, Roundthorn and other parts of Oldham. We provide and assist in the provision of Training, Educational Courses, Recreation and Leisure activities. We also meet our aims through the employment of staff, the development of partnerships with other agencies and through the use of volunteers.

Fatima Women’s Association was established in 1991 by the local Pakistani women who recognised the lack of facilities available to the ethnic minority women in the area.

In 2005 F. W. A had received the highly commended entries award from ‘niace’ (Promoting Adults Learning).

In 2006, The Institute of Community Cohesion, Challenging Local Communities to Change Oldham quoted, “The work being done by Fatima Women’s Association in equipping women, young girls and children from different backgrounds with the confidence and skills to engage at a local level is worthy of a mention”.
