East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH)

EACH supports families both within their own homes and at 3 hospices across East Anglia (in Ipswich, Cambridge & Quidenham, south of Norwich) throughout their experience of caring for children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses. We care for over 340 children each year and over 1,000 family members.

EACH provides a range of physical, emotional, social and spiritual support services which are offered:
- holistically
- centred on the family
- to all families in East Anglia with children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses
- across a range of settings, including the home, hospice and hospital
- by specialist staff
- with the engagement of the community

We make no charge to the families we help, given the costs and emotional burden they already bear in caring for a life-threatened child. Our daily and annual expenditure to offer the highest quality care across three hospice sites and in the community is, however, significant – and EACH is reliant on public support for the majority of our required income (£7. 5m in 2011/12).

' Magic Wand' project

EACH prides itself on our low administration costs: only 19p in the £ is spent on non-care costs. We also increase the value of each donation, wherever possible, by reclaiming gift aid.

But perhaps the hardest thing of all to fundraise for is our annual utility bill - costs of rent, rates, heating, lighting etc. A donation of £250,000 would cover our utility costs for all three of EACH's hospices for the whole year... Which in turn would free up an equivalent sum to spend directly on our care services.
