Child Brain Injury Trust

Every 30 minutes in the UK, a child or young person will acquire a brain injury. We provide information, support and training to anyone affected by this life changing condition.

Founded 1991

  • Mission statement

Every half an hour in the UK a child or young person will acquire a brain injury. This may be a result an accident, illness such as meningitis or encephalitis, poisoning, stroke or brain tumour.

We support the whole family following a childhood acquired brain injury (ABI). There is an assumption that time is a healer, but until the injured part of the brain develops, the full extent of a child's injury cannot be known.

Brain injuries are likely to affect the way a person thinks, feels and responds to situations and affects the entire family. We offer:
    -A dedicated Helpline
-Family-led support groups across the UK
    -Training for professionals
-Activities and events for children and families

  • Aims

Child Brain Injury Trust aims to:

    • To ensure every child with an acquired brain injury receives the correct support package to meet their needs.
    • For every child with a brain injury an estimated 9 other people will require support, we aim to support these people and anyone affected by childhood acquired brain injury
    • Brain injury is often referred to as a 'hidden disability'; the Child Brain Injury Trust aims to raise awareness of this hidden disability and promote a preventative message.
    • The charity aims to provide training for professionals working with children and young people with a brain injury to further raise awareness and educate.
