The Royal College of Surgeons of England

The Royal College of Surgeons of England is one of the world’s foremost surgical professional bodies. A registered charity, incorporated in 1800, the College is committed to enabling surgeons to achieve and maintain the highest standards on surgical practice and patient care.

The College seeks to improve patient safety by providing a structured and seamless pathway of education and training for surgeons at all stages of their careers and through the respected Surgical Research Fellowship Scheme fund cutting edge clinical research into diseases, surgical techniques and technologies. The College is the guardian of surgical heritage; housing and conserving current and historical medical information in the library and the recently refurbished, award-winning Hunterian Museum.

The College is independent of the NHS, and relies on voluntary contributions to develop our charitable activities.
