Independent Newham Users Forum (Mental Health)

INUF - The Independent Newham Users Forum (Mental Health) started in April 1998 when many people spoke of not having enough information about plans for services in Newham and East London and of wishing to be more involved in service developments, a User Forum was created to represent the interests of service users and for informing service providers, commissioners and mental health workers of service users' views in the Borough. In 2002 INUF was able to acquire its premises in Romford Road, Stratford which it named Ithaca House, after the Greek Island, Ithaca, known as a safe haven for those going through rough seas. If it is a place for those going through rough times, like Ithaca it is also a place to rebuild and repair, so when seas are calmer again, you can recover your journey.
