Open Door Young People's Consultation Service

Open Door offers a range of therapeutic interventions to young people aged 12 to 24 and a separate service for parents who are worried about the health and welfare of their adolescents.

  • Mission statement

    To promote the mental health of young people by maintaining and developing an accessible psychotherapy service that is responsive to the psychological and social problems of young people aged 12-24. To provide a welcoming service that avoids discrimination on any grounds and to develop the best professional practice.
    To maximise the potential for educational achievement and fulfilling employment; to reduce the risk of suicide and deliberate self harm. To help young people manage the damaging effects of sexual abuse and to minimise the risk of repeating aspects of the abuse in relationships during their adult lives. To provide consultation, advice and assistance to parents, carers and professionals concerned with young people. To provide education and training for professional staff and to promote the study and evaluation of psychotherapy and counselling of young people and to encourage the publication and distribution of such work.

    Open Door Young People's Consultation Service aims to:

    • To address problematic adolescent behaviour with parents and devise strategies that will resolve it.
    • To improve the mental health and emotional well-being of young people.
    • To address obstacles to improved mental health and find methods for overcoming them.
    • To help parents to (re)gain confident control for the benefit of their son or daughter.
