The Nautical Archaeology Society was formed to actively involve members of the public, locally, nationally and internationally in preserving and studying their maritime heritage.

    The Nautical Archaeology Society is a learned society formed to promote local, national and international interest in our shared nautical archaeology. Our mission is to protect our maritime heritage through education. Our aims are to:
    - facilitate conservation, education, research, and publication
    - act as a focus for information about nautical archaeological activities
    - promote high standards in the field through training and demonstration
    - conduct research and expeditionary activities designed to investigate our maritime past.
